Intentional Ministry Prayer And Cultural Training
CLBI’s IMPACT Program
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Act 1:8
As we seek obedience to and understanding of the call of Christ at CLBI, students are given the opportunity every year to dive into cross-cultural ministry in the IMPACT (Intentional Ministry Prayer And Cultural Training) program. Each January, 2nd year students break into teams, board airplanes, and travel to different countries seeking to serve, to learn, and to bear witness of our great Saviour and his redeeming work on Earth.
Our prayer is that each year, students will impact and be impacted by others as they experience what God’s Spirit is doing in the global church, develop a greater servant heart for people around the world, and who knows, perhaps even be prompted to respond to God’s call to global mission!
Thank you for your faithful support of this program, and your continual prayers for our students. Without you getting behind them, they would never get this great experience!

Team Haiti

L to R: Sarah Leitner, Ashalee Vollmer, Nicole Vikse, Janaya Hunter, Emma Murray
Team Haiti will be volunteering at a local Haitian orphanage, God’s Littlest Angels where they will be helping out in a variety of ways. In addition to childcare, they will help with sorting donations and medical supplies, doing chores at the orphanage, and various work projects. As you know, Haitians are continuing to struggle as they seek to rebuild their lives and their country after the recent devastating earthquake. Please pray that this team will be a testimony of the light and hope that is found in Jesus, even in the midst of our struggles.

Team Jamaica

L to R: Rachelle Klassen, Tyler Adam, Jordan Rude, Kyla Hollar, Tim Faltin
Team Jamaica will be volunteering with a local Christian ministry, Fusion Jamaica, a youth and community outreach. Fusion works with some of the neediest kids in the roughest part of Jamaica’s capital city, Kingston. The church in Jamaica struggles with the high number of nominal believers, as well as with high violent crime rates. Pray that this team will be a witness of the new life of peace and love found in Jesus Christ.

Team Mongolia will be hosted by Joint Christian Services International (JCS) and serving primarily in 2 JCS projects. Streams in the Desert is an outreach to prostitutes as well as a rehabilitation centre for women trying to get off the streets. Flourishing Futures is a community centre that seeks to meet the needs of those living in a slum neighbourhood of the capital city Ulaanbaatar. Pray that the team will be a light in dark places, and will communicate the love of a God who took on flesh to reach those he loved.

Team Brazil

L to R: Karina Nottveit, Victoria Iverson, Steven Dahl, Lila Gaertner, Joel Roggensinger
Team Brazil will be hosted by missionaries of the Swiss Alliance Mission in Brazil’s north-east province of Piaui, a region that has 14 million people, but is less than 1% Christian. The team will join a church planting team in doing community outreach events including service projects and evangelistic meetings in the rural town of Barão do Grajaú. Pray that God would orchestrate encounters and conversations with locals, and that hearts would be prepared to receive the gospel.

Team Suriname

T to B: Andrew Chell, Tim Hesje, Steven Belau
Team Suriname is made up of the 2nd year guys from CLBI’s Foundations campus. They will be hosted by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Suriname, and will be primarily involved in youth and kids outreach in the capital city of Paramaribo. Pray that the guys will be able to communicate God’s love for “the least of these”, and be an encouragement to a small church in a nation that is often overlooked in our world.
