Team Bolivia comprised of Cullen Halvorson (leader), Allison Isaac, John McCune, Melissa Nelson & Bailey Skaret will spend time in the capital city of La Paz, under the supervision of World Mission Prayer League (WMPL) workers Shel & Sharon Groff. They will experience the outreach of local churches to street kids and others in need. Team members will travel the “most scenic road on earth” as it winds down the Yungas valley to the city of Caranavi. Here they will join WMPL workers Nick & Shannon Kraft and Paul & Jay Mikaelsen in the ministry of Radio/Television Caranavi.
Ken Olson (team leader), Dane Christenson, Erin Langager, Clayton Olafson & Lynne Zasadny of Team Brazil will fly to Sao Paulo and on to Curitiba in the state of Parana. Their hosts will be Paul and Becky Abel, veteran workers with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC). Team Brazil will be involved in ministry to youth through a retreat and outreach center that is busy year-round, seeking to bring Brazilian youth into a new or deeper relationship with Christ. Their trip home will include a visit to the spectacular Iguazu Falls on the Brazil/Paraguay border.
Pastor Al Pinno of AFLC Canada has again graciously consented to host Team India comprised of Sarah Book (team leader), Ian Stolee (co leader), Christian Loken, Tasha Saliken & Kevin Schemmer. The team will fly to Chennai (Madras) and on by train to Chirala where they will participate in the outreach ministries of AFLC India under the direction of Pastor Luther Sastry. Students will teach English at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, participate in evangelistic outreach and observe firsthand the medical ministry of Dr. Anand Kumar.
Career WMPL workers Dan & Nancy Rusch will host Hannah Urie (Team leader), Lennae Gronhovd, Chad Hamm, Dan Leblanc & Kari Zimmerman who make up Team Philippines. The team will fly to Manila and observe the work of FilSIM and assist in a construction project. Team members will also visit Faith Academy, an international school in the metro area and assist Dan & Nancy in their role as respite caregivers at an orphanage. A flight to the southern island of Mindanao is also planned where WMPL workers Mark & Kathi Williams, who are involved in educational outreach and discipleship, will host the team.
